It’s all about trust
Kariba Dam was constructed between 1955 and 1959 in the Kariba Gorge of the Zambezi River. The wall is 128m high and 579m long and the total water surface area of the dam is around 5,400 square kilometers.

I don’t recall the year but I do remember at the time of that photo they opened four gates. Everyone thought the wall would collapse (of course it didn’t 😉 )

It was quite spectacular. I think half of Zimbabwe booked in to Kariba that weekend!
